Hi Friends! While I wait for some other vendors to get their answers to me, I’m here to give you some tips when researching wedding photographers. What makes me so qualified? 2022 is my 10th wedding season! I’ve been a photographer much longer, but changed my focus to weddings 10 years ago. Meaning, I’ve see a lot! I hope you enjoy these Wedding Wednesday tips!

What do you love most about your job?
The wedding day and getting to know my couples. I cry, I cheer you on, and I really care.
Tip #1
When researching your wedding photographer, look for reception photos. I cannot stress this enough. Someone could shoot amazingly in a field during golden hour (the last hour of daylight), but can’t shoot in the dark with artificial lighting. Heck, even ask to see a few full weddings. Remembering that when you’re looking through, that couple may have asked for specific things that wouldn’t necessarily your style, but look for consistency.
Tip #2
Don’t try any new beauty things before your wedding. You may want to be tanner, or have better brows or a different hair color, but just don’t try it for the first time right before your wedding. Experiment with these things if you’d like to a few times leading up to the wedding to make sure you’re comfortable with them.
Tip #3
I get asked so often, “Have you shot at my venue?” After shooting nearly 300 weddings, the chances are that I have. But there are still some venues I still haven’t shot at in Metro Detroit! If the photographer has been in business for awhile and is experienced, trust that they will do an amazing job even if they haven’t shot there yet. Maybe a better question would be, are you comfortable shooting in a cathedral/greenhouse/museum/basement? If they’re a veteran, they can handle it and if they want, they can always tour the location beforehand!
Now just some silly questions
Wedding Cake. Love it or Leave it?
Leave it. I know it’s crazy, but I don’t like cake!
What’s your favorite song to hear at a wedding?
I wanna dance with somebody or Shout
What’s your current favorite wedding trend?
Lower guest count! I know some couples were bummed last year that they had to invite less people, but honestly, then only the most important people were there and everyone was present and engaged! They were so good!
