Octobers are for cider, warm clothes and engagement sessions!  I was lucky enough to hang out with Nat + Pat last night on Belle Isle for their chic Belle Isle engagement.  We laughed a ton and ran around to some of their favorite spots and talked all about their August 2019 wedding.  I cannot wait for next summer!  It’s going to be a blast!

Natalie, nurse practitioner

Pat, sales

When they met:

The day after Thanksgiving, 2016

How they met:

Mutual friends had been telling Pat about me and telling me about Pat for five years. Pat lived in Chicago and I in Ann Arbor, so we both were hesitant to meet, given the distance. After I dated nearly everyone in Ann Arbor, I finally decided to give Pat a try. Pat was in town for Thanksgiving, so we got together with our mutual friends and instantly hit it off. The next night, we all met up again to commiserate over a heart-wrenching Michigan football loss. I figured the distance wasn’t such a big deal anymore, and our first official date came shortly after.

Their engagement story:

We love Detroit Days, where we spend a day eating and drinking our way around the city. We had just finished a cinnamon roll at Sister Pie (which I ate 90% of because Pat was too nervous to eat – red flag, in hindsight), and we were heading to our next spot. On the way there, Pat asked if we could see if anything was new on Belle Isle. We drove around until we got to the Conservatory. Pat had found the perfect proposal spot on Google Images, but a bride and groom were taking photos there. So, we walked around while Pat rambled on about his golf grip until he found the perfect spot and proposed. I was so shocked, that I initially said, “Thank you!” and then requested he propose again so I could say, “YES!” After brunch at the Apparatus Room, we drove back to Ann Arbor, where Pat surprised me with our families and friends all gathered together. It was the best day ever.

Song that reminds Natalie of Pat:

  1. […] Natalie + Pat’s Gem Theatre wedding was so dreamy! Just look at these two?! It was the perfect day, with the sweetest couple and a dream team of vendors (I’m talking to you Jen House Design and Blue Water Kings!). I’m still obsessed with these chic bridesmad gowns from BHLDN and can we get a church clap for Natalie’s gown! Breathtaking! So chic and that BOW! […]

Almost there!
