Detroit city engagement
Let me tell you about my summer. I got to photograph A LOT of love, but none quite like Alyssa + Ben’s. Their Detroit city engagement photo session was so fun and steamy (literally and figuratively). These two know how to have FUN and it made me so excited about their wedding – which at the time was about a week away.
They too love light, love, color and fun, so obviously we were a perfect match. I can’t wait to share their wedding photos with you!

When they met: January 11, 2019
How they met:
We met via the dating app Hinge. Ben drove down to Toledo and took me out to dinner at my favorite sushi spot :) When I pitched the idea, he told me “Sounds great, I love sushi too!” … I later found out he lied – he had never had sushi before in his life! It’s been one of our favorite restaurants ever since :)
Their engagement story:
Weeks ahead of time, Ben said we had dinner plans with friends who would be in town on November 7th. When that day came around, we got ready and went to Michigan & Trumbull for dinner (one of our favs!). When we opened the door to the rooftop area, I was shocked to see red roses everywhere – especially a trail of petals and candles leading to a beautiful oriental rug and backdrop of even more red roses. Ben grabbed my hand, walked me across the rooftop, got down on one knee, and the rest is history! Several of our friends who had been hiding in the corners popped out and we celebrated with pizza, drinks, and cake (from For the Love of Sugar – another fav) afterwards :)
