Carrie + Alex’s summer Detroit engagement was so much fun!  Although this was the first day we all met in person, I felt like I’ve known them forever!  We met in Detroit’s historical Eastern Market.  Fun Fact: a TON of business’ there aren’t open on Mondays!  I wanted to take them out to Detroit Distillery, but them, Eastern Market Brewery and Supino’s were all closed :(  Supino’s is one of my favorite reasons for shooting in Eastern Market ;)

 

These two love color like I do, so it was so much fun using the colors and textures of the Market in the evening to incorporate into their session.  We laughed a ton and talked about their first date and food, because Detroit = amazing food.  I can’t wait for their March Fort Myers, Florida wedding!

Our friend Clayton was moving into my condo. Alex came with him to check the place out, and we all ended up hanging out later.

 

Their engagement story

We got engaged November 1, 2017 on Alex’s birthday! I tried planning something to for us to do, but he said he just wanted to take me out on the boat after work to fish and eat on the water. He told me not to pack food and that he had the cooler and boat all ready to go. I didn’t think anything of it. Anyone who knows Alex knows that he’s obsessed with fishing and LOVES being out on the water, so it was very believable. He picked me up after work and we went to a few spots to fish. After catching a few big fish he wanted to go to a certain spot to watch the sunset and catch a redfish on his fly rod. I was sitting on the bow of the boat eating an apple and he tapped me to turn around. He was just holding a ring. He said the only thing I want for my birthday is to have you forever. I think I screamed. He asked, “so what do you say?” But he forgot to ask me. We just laughed. It was a perfect sunset and the water was so calm. About ten minutes later his brother met us on the water with champagne, fancy cheeses and all the good stuff. He took a million pictures and we just hung out on the boats all night.
