Arrived early
How they settled on the name Hazel:
My husband and I were sitting on our front porch, this was a few years ago, and we saw our neighbor take his daughter for a walk — her name was Hazel. I looked at Bryan and said, “I love that name.” I quickly forgot about that moment until years later, when I was looking for an “H” name. I saw Hazel and remembered that night on the porch, I still loved that name so we put it on our list of potential options. As my pregnancy progressed one of my cravings was hazelnut coffee so I took that as a sign. Louise is a family name, it’s my middle name.
Three words that describe her:
She is a choosey lady. She is also, alert, strong and smiley.
Nursery theme/vision:
National Parks! We love to hike and be outside.
Must have baby item:
Find a baby carrier that works for you — it’s a game changer. We bought a Baby Bjorn Carrier Mini for our petite gal. All straps clip in the front so it is very easy to get on ourself and it’s the only carrier small enough where Hazel is comfortable.
What is the best piece of parenting advice you’ve received?
Write everything down. It’s amazing how quickly you can forget the little things — the way you felt during labor, the first night at home, the first meltdown. You will be glad you documented all of these things down the road.
