Ok you guys, these two are really good at snuggling. Like really good. But not only that, they have so.much.fun.together! I laughed so hard throughout their session and felt like I had known them forever. Their Detroit sunset engagement session was so much fun. We met before to get to know each other and then stopped by The Belt and the old train station.
That golden sunset light was to die for! So good. A lot of times, I go into sessions without a plan and kind of ride the vibe my couples are giving off. Their vibe took us to a random swing outside the train station which Ryan may or may not have rode first (you’ll have to find him on Facebook to find out)! Also, they’re friends with Courtney + Jason, so you KNOW they’re awesome :) I cannot wait for their September wedding day!
Their Story (as told by Caitlin):
Caitlin, Development Director, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Ryan, Financial Adviser, Plante Moran
Met:
Six years ago
How they met:
We met at a party through a mutual friend. I actually called Ryan new kid all night because he was the only person at the party that I didn’t know. Apparently, he found that charming, I’m lucky he didn’t think it was rude!
Their engagement:
Ryan did a great job of making the timing of the proposal a surprise. We went to the jeweler together to design my ring, which was such a fun process, and at the end of it, the jeweler told me it would take a few months to finish the ring. I had never designed an engagement ring before so I believed him and thought the proposal was at least a few months away. A couple of weeks later, we were on our way to dinner when Ryan said he needed to swing by our friend’s house to grab something. We get into the house, where we first met, and our friend is mysteriously not home, but his door was unlocked. Ryan had arranged for a video camera to be set up to catch the whole thing. He asked me if I realized that we had met in this exact spot five years ago, and he got down on one knee. The next day, we were leaving for Cabo with his family and he really wanted to surprise them and tell them all at the same time, so I had to take the ring off and hide it for a day! I was so nervous that I was somehow going to lose it on the plane, I kept checking my bag every few minutes. But it was worth it to see their faces when we were all together.
