Grey Watercolor Wedding Inspiration – a Detroit collaborative styled shoot

a detroit collaborative styled shoot

This is the story of what happens when some of the best creative people in the city of Detroit work together instead of against each other.  A beautiful Detroit collaborative styled shoot. The creative industry can be tough and it’s not for the weak of heart.  I honestly think one of the reasons I am where I am in my career is because I made a decision at the beginning to always be kind.  To people, to clients, to other photographers and vendors, to people who work at venues.  To anybody.  A little over a year ago, I found The Rising Tide Society.  RTS is a group open to creatives with meet ups all over the country and the basis of their existence is just that – let’s work together and be kind to one another.  Their motto is “Community Over Competition”  and it couldn’t be more fitting for me.  I love the feeling of empowering one another and building each other up.  It just feels good.

Last spring, our RTS group decided to collaborate together on a styled shoot.  What’s a styled shoot?!  It’s concept shoot, created by creatives for fun to show off our individual talents.  I had the pleasure to work with the incredible girls from Take a Seat event planning, Meg from MB Calligraphy, Dressed in Details floral Design, one of my favorite designers – Brittany (who hand painted those plates and backdrop!) from Two if By Sea Studios, my girl Jill Sollars who is an incredible hair and makeup artist, Bailye Hannum who blew my mind with her marble cake, Sarita who is honestly as beautiful on the inside as she is the out and photographer Erin Hannum.  Another photographer?!  *gasp* AND her name is Erin?!  It’s ok – she’s super rad and her style is different.  Yes, people in the same field can work together on the same project and have completely different outcomes ;)  That’s what makes me so happy about out Detroit Rising Tide Society group.  We all work together and build each other up instead of tear each other down.  Alright, enough with the sap – scroll down to see more of our watercolor daydream at The Whitney in Detroit.
