I’ve honestly been so lucky and have be able to meet the most amazing and fun people. This Ann Arbor engagement session was a blast, Allison and Brad are so fun! We were laughing the entire time we explored Downtown Ann Arbor. We bonded over our shared love of Netflix and food and photographed in fall’s gorgeous golden light. Here’s more about Allison & Brad:
Allison, Physician Assistant Student
Bradley, Anesthesiology Resident
When they met: May 2012
How they met: We first met in May 2012, Brad was working at the University of Michigan Hospital and his coworker was hosting a party. It just so happened that Brad’s coworker was also Allison’s roommate at the time. Brad and Allison hit it off at the party, but it wasn’t until a year later that we officially started dating. Our timing was not ideal, considering Brad was at medical school at Wayne State University and Allison was in the process of moving to Chicago. The distance was not always easy, but with the help of Skype, Facetime and classic snail mail, we were able to make the best of the situation. We look back on that time fondly now, as a time that we got to learn a lot about each other, like our mutual love of Michigan Football and Mexican food, and we are happy to say that our greatest hardship to overcome during that period was the Amtrak system. Allison eventually moved back to Michigan to begin graduate school and the rest is happily ever after!
Their engagement story: It was the holiday season, December 2015, and we were at home watching tv, playing Monopoly-a typical evening for us. The holidays were a busy time, with lots of family events, so it had taken us several days to actually get through this particular game. Brad kept insisting that we finish the game and Allison had no idea why! It even came down to Brad’s family members asking us if we had finished playing Monopoly yet. Allison found it strange that everyone was so invested in us playing this board game! Finally, on the 3rd night, we sat down to finish playing. It was Brad’s turn and he was instructed to pick up a “Chance” card. Brad picked up the card and proceeded to “read” the card out loud; however, having played Monopoly quite often as a child, Allison knew that what he was saying was not one of the instructions on any of the “Chance” cards. She thought he was trying to cheat to win the game, so she grabbed the card, thinking she was going to catch him in his lie, and that is when she saw that it was not a real Monopoly card- instead it was a card meant for her, that read “Will you marry me?” It was unexpected, romantic, and fun; a perfect story for us :)
