Elyse + Evan’s fall Colony Club wedding was such a special day. When I met them last year, I knew I needed to document their day. They were just so sweet and caring – so my kind of people. I met with them at Westin Book Cadillac where they got ready. The vibe was so great at Elyse got ready with her favorite girls. If you know me, you know I’ll do just about anything for “the shot” – lay on the ground, climb in a window, stand in a creek, etc. Well I wanted some height, so I jumped up on the bed to get a better angle and riiiiiipppppp – I ripped my pants. First time ever working and ripping my pants, but it was totally worth it (photo below).

Ok back to them. Detroit was windy that day. Like reeeeaaaallly windy, but the girls took it like pros and slayed their photos. Their Catholic ceremony was in a very beautiful cathedral and once they were pronounced married, we headed over to celebrate at the DIA! When we arrived at Colony Club, the wind was immediately knocked out of me with how stunning their ballroom was. It’s always beautiful there, but Ines and Marie added even more glam and polish. They danced the rest of the night away under the gorgeous full moon. Barbie + HT, thank you so much for letting me in to your lives and having me there to document your day. Elyse’s favorite memory of the day:

Evan and I’s first dance. It was really the first time on our wedding day we got to feel like it was just us. We chose an Aerosmith song that we always have a blast dancing to. We started off in a typical slow dance and spontaneously burst into an improv dance in the middle of the song. It was awesome!

Wedding planning advice for newly engaged couples:

Try to remember that this is about YOU TWO. It’s your day. Do whatever makes you happy as a couple and try not to sweat the small stuff. The day flew by so quickly – just have fun!
