I seriously had so much fun photographing and getting to know Courtney and Jason at their engagement session last week. We laughed a ton and checked out some of their favorite places in the city. These two make my heart smile – He’s the yin to her yang so to say. Courtney is fun, but a little more reserved and Jason knows exactly what to say to Courtney to make her laugh (or blush) uncontrollably. I cannot wait for their wedding next month! Here’s a little more about these two:
Met: Summer of 2013
How: We met while both working at a law firm in 2013. We hit it off as fast friends. During karaoke with work colleagues, we tag-teamed Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” and after, Jason asked me to dinner. On the first date, Jason said that he would marry me.
Their engagement story: Jason couldn’t wait to ask Courtney to marry him. With a ring burning a hole in his pocket, he planned a night in Detroit under the guise of celebrating Courtney’s year-end at work. Jason told Courtney they would start their evening with a quick stop at the DIA before heading on a brewery tour. After visiting their favorite exhibits, Jason led Courtney to the Rivera Court, a room containing Diego Rivera’s beautiful murals highlighting Detroit’s industrial roots. Jason got down on one knee, pulled out a ring, and asked Courtney to marry him. Courtney immediately said……….! Nothing. After crying for an entire minute and ignoring Jason’s pleas to “seal the deal,” Jason was forced to shepherd Courtney out of the DIA where Courtney FINALLY said yes. This was an obvious relief as Jason had no contingency plan. (Courtney, of course, claims she said yes immediately).
Song that reminds Courtney of Jason: Fly Me to the Moon – Frank Sinatra
Song that reminds Jason of Courtney: Love is Here to Stay – Ella Fitzgerald
Their wedding vision in three words: Big Fun Party
Wedding colors? Ivory and Greens
A September 2016 wedding is planned in Detroit, Michigan.
