I don’t know how I never blogged this! Maybe it’s because 100 Layer Cake published it, but this was one of my favorite days. We worked out bunss off on this Detroit elopement, but I am still so in love with how it all came together, even 2 years later!
I had been wanting to do another styled shoot with Jen House Design and there was just never a good time. We were both always so busy. But then Jen had this idea of an elopement story and we just collaborated in the best possible way. Eloping doesn’t have to be boring guys! And I feel like this needs to be shared now more than ever. Your day can be sooooo special. And pretty (with the help of the right floral designer, baker and hair and makeup artists). This story is so intimate and beautiful, it still brings all the feels. So, here’s out New Detroit Elopement story:
Our bride and groom rent a gorgeous loft in Downtown Detroit. This particular one is in Eastern Market. They wake up and help each other get dressed. After a few photos, they head to their favorite record store and choose a few albums to listen to later at their reception for two. Next, our couple heads to their favorite cafe for some relaxing cocktails before their nuptials. After their i dos at Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, they run outside to cheers and revel in their happiness! For to visit their favorite wine bar and a ride home on the people mover.
While they were out, their floral designer had reset their loft with gorgeous florals, rugs and details to make their evening so special. Their beautiful cake for two was there too! They put their records on and danced to their favorite song for their first dance. Just the two of them and just pure magic.
Elopements are VERY special. It’s just the two of you (and sometimes a few more) and every little thing helps make the day so special. If you love flowers, you can still have a ton of amazing flowers. If you love music, hire a dj! You don’t have to have a 200 person wedding to have a dj – trust me they would love this! Maybe all of this COVID stuff will switch how we see weddings up a bit? If it’s anything like this day, I am allllll for it!
S/O to the always amazing Jen + Kendall from Jen House Design for creating this with me. And of course Chrissy from Primp and Heather from Sweet Heather Anne for their gorgeous magic as well!
