a winter Detroit Masonic Temple wedding
I feel like I’m always saying this, but OMG I LOVE Ashley + Jim! Their winter Detroit Masonic Temple wedding was one of those that just make my heart happy. I was lucky enough to get to know them really well through their engagement session at Belle Isle and I just love their love. The way they look at each other, you can just feel how deep rooted their connection and love for one another is.
So their day was super cold. Like bitter cold. Ashley was even prepared enough that she brought a fleece blanket to wrap up in between shots outside! So smart. It was a great day! I just love the uniqueness of the Masonic Temple. So many cool little corners and so many stories. Funny story: Ashley gave Jim concert tickets for his wedding gift and I actually ran into them at the show! Yup – I was lucky enough to dance my booty off with the newlyweds ;) Not only was it their wedding day, but it was also Ashley’s Mom’s birthday. She was so sweet to arrange for a cupcake delivery to her just after speeches and a sing along of happy birthday with all of the guests. Yup – they’re that sweet. Ashley and Jim, I just love you two and feel like I’ve known you forever. Thank you so much for having me and for being your rad selves xo, e

Ashley’s favorite memory of the day:
It’s hard to pick a singular moment of the day but my grand entrance into the chapel definitely stands out. Listening to the song we chose for our bridal party entrance behind closed doors, I was so full of excitement. Then the door opens, I hear the piano remix of one of our favorite songs playing, I know all of our friends and family are gathered in one awesome room with eyes fixed on me but all I noticed was him. I couldn’t wait to get up there.
Jim’s favorite memory of the day:
Finally hearing our first dance song. Backstory: Years ago, we each picked a song to possibly use as our first dance song but did not tell each other. We ended up using the one James picked as a reading and we kept the one Ashley chose as a surprise for our actual first dance. James was super surprised and very happy with it.
Wedding planning advice for newly engaged couples:
Take the time to savor your engagement and *try* not to get so overwhelmed by all the decisions ahead of you. Things cost more than you think, take longer than you may want and you may have to roll with a plan B at times but it will all work out!
