Oh my lanta! How have I not shared this wedding yet?! As their one year anniversary, I have to share with you one of the sweetest couples! Sara + Joe’s winter DAC wedding was an abnormally warm Detroit winter day and so much fun! There were tons of laughs, a lot of happy tears and I may or may not have asked Sara to reenact the old Dittrich Furs commercial that came out long before she was born (you know the one… she spins wearing her fur, while the voiceover sings the theme song – someone please tell me you remember this!)

Anyway, back to their wedding day! Detroit Athletic Club is a GREAT place to have your wedding, especially when it is v. cold out. Rich woods and colors and a ton of Detroit history. Their first look was absolutely perfect and after, we headed out for photos and their ceremony at Ss. Peter and Paul Jesuit Church. You guys this church! The way the light comes through the windows gives me life! It’s so beautiful. When we headed back to DAC, I stole Sara + Joe away and headed to the roof. This moment is always my favorite. All day, you’re dragged around from place to place and I love helping my couples take a minute to themselves to really take it all in. The sunset was so beautiful and these two were able to take a minute to really just BE, before heading down for all of the dancing and fun. And dancing they did. Let me just tell you, when DJ MaryAnn is your DJ, the dance floor will be lit all.night.long. Thank you S + J for letting us into your lives and your day. It was such a good one and I am so thankful for your friendship :) xo, e

Sara’s favorite memory of the day:

Definitely going up to the DAC rooftop with Joe during the cocktail hour to take everything in…including the beautiful winter sunset! It was a random 50 degree January day so we were able to enjoy the downtown views for awhile while drinking champagne, eating some appetizers, and enjoying each other’s company for the first time as husband and wife! I also have a close runner-up favorite memory that I can’t help sharing. Before the grand entrances, the whole bridal party and our parents waited in a separate room laughing and having a good time together. It was a cool moment to have our nearest and dearest all together for a private moment before kicking off the celebration.

Joe’s favorite memory of the day:

Seeing Sara for the first look. We were both so nervous up to that point! Once we were able to take a deep breath we forgot everything else and just focused on each other. Also, I had a feeling Sara would not make it through the vows without crying. What I didn’t expect was that she would make everyone else in the church cry too (including the groomsmen)!

Wedding planning advice for newly engaged couples:

The day goes by way too fast for you and your loved ones, so be sure to enjoy every minute. Make your wedding what you want it to be! We also tried to take memory “snapshots” throughout the day by pausing in the little moments and taking it all in.
