Let’s face it, wedding planning isn’t easy. Especially Detroit wedding planning, because there are just so many incredible locations! I get a lot of couples dming me asking for my favorite spots, so here we are for your viewing and research pleasure, my Top Detroit wedding locations!
1. Whiskey Factory Detroit
Whiskey Factory Detroit is a favorite with my couples as well as with me. It’s blank space with an incredible staff, the best of catering with 2 Unique and just a piece of Detroit history.
2. Shinola Hotel
A newer venue that opened just before the pandemic, Shinola is chic, stunning and inventive. They have a larger ballroom as well as smaller more intimate spaces. And it’s a hotel in the middle of the city making exploring so simple.
3. Colony Club
Colony Club is a hidden gem in the city. With 3 historical ornate floors, you have all of the space you need for your cocktail hour, ceremony and reception. Not to mention their staff takes incredible care of you and their food is amazing!
4. Gem Theatre
Colony Club’s sister company that’s also so full of Detroit history and flavor. You can get married on a stage! So fun for those who love live music. Plus that first dance in the theatre is nothing short of incredible!!
5. Ford Piquette Plant
Guys it’s not only a wedding venue, but also a museum as well! What a cool treat for your guests! Plus, nothing beats a blank canvas with multidimensional natural light streaming through their windows.
6. Detroit Institute of Arts
Another museum that’s nothing like you’ve experienced before! Getting married among the Diego Rivera mural is literally next level. Another thing that’s so cool about DIA is that they only book one wedding a month there, so you are their front and center priority through your planning experience!
7. Scarab Club
Mmmmm that outdoor spot tho and that yummy summer light that comes through. Just an amazing Detroit Venue for a more intimate wedding.
8. Planterra Conservatory
She’s a little bit outside the city, but Planterra is the most gorgeous gem. Who doesn’t want to get married surrounded by stunning plants in a chic and upscale greenhouse. Plus for those who love a one stop shop, Planterra offers rentals, catering and floral design!
9. Masonic Temple Detroit
Getting married in the same building Jack White did – you honestly can’t get more Detroit than that! I just love the color, history, grandness of Masonic Temple. And the rooftop views! Just so diverse and special of a location.
10. Detroit Athletic Club
Detroit Athletic Club is worth it’s price for the rooftop views alone! After a crazy day, my favorite thing to do is take my couples to the roof for some sunset photos and that much needed breathe of fresh air. The food is incredible, the venue is stunning and honestly requires minimal decorating. There are also hotel rooms available there as well, to make coming home at the end of the night so easy.
11. Waterview Loft
Waterview Loft is a hidden gem! Right on the Detroit river front, your guests will be treated to a cocktail hour overlooking Canada! Tons of natural light with a very cool lounge vibe.
12. Lovett Hall
Again, she’s a tiny bit outside the city, but you get to have your photos taken inside (and outside) Henry Ford Museum and on the property at Greenfield Village. So uniquely Detroit.
13. Westin Book Cadillac
Westin Book Cadillac has always been a favorite of mine. The perfect fit for anyone who loves the city, but especially for those with a lot of out of town guests. You know how Detroit is shown to the rest of the world and this is your chance to show them how incredible it is! With their location right by campus martius and them being a hotel, it’s a one stop location for your guests to not only enjoy your wedding, but all the city has to offer as well! This is a can’t miss in my eyes.
14. The Madison
Friends she has a rooftop. And not any rooftop, but one that overlooks Comerica Park. Well who cares about that?! YOU DO! Saturday nights in the summer they fire off fireworks that you don’t have to pay for. Free firework display on your wedding day, yes please! But not only that, it’s just a stunning Detroit location owned by Bedrock.
Honerable Mention:
State Savings Bank
Why is it an honorable mention? Because it’s a newer venue I haven’t had the opportunity to shoot at yet. State Savings Bank Detroit looks incredible, location is perfect and such a chic, luxurious looking spot to dance the night away with family and friends.
