What do you get when you have a couple who loves Detroit (so much so that their ceremony is at Comerica Park) equally as much as their photographer? MAGIC! I met Katie & Alex at Ottavia one of their date spots from when they lived in Detroit. We had some wine and chatted a bit before getting them in front of my lens. Although it was November, it was crazy warm and the light was on point, so it made for fantastic weather for a session. We walked down Michigan Ave and hit up some of their favorite spots, including old Tiger’s Stadium, before heading to the roof of the Detroit Athletic Club.
Katie emailed me earlier that week asking what I thought of shooting on the roof of the DAC. Ummm, if you have permission, yeah we can shoot there! I am always so excited when my clients have cool ideas or out of the norm places they want to shoot at. Plus the DAC has the best view of the city from pretty much every angle. Katie & Alex’s love made these images look effortless – I cannot wait for their wedding next year!
Katie – Suites Manager for Delaware North Sportservice at Petco Park
Alex – General Manager for Delaware North Sportservice at Qualcomm Stadium
Met: 2012
Their Story: We met while working together at Comerica Park. Although we really feel like we met while growing up on family trips to the zoo and/or Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Their engagement story: In May, Alex received a job promotion which required us to relocate to San Diego, California in May 2016. Before our big move Alex had lunch with Katie’s dad to ask for their blessing. In June, Katie went home for her niece’s graduation party but Alex could not attend due to work. Alex was picking Katie up from the airport when she got back to California and had the ring with him. He was very persistent as to when I would be off the plane and to the car…which was not like him. We went to get dinner straight from the airport and as Katie started to get out of the car he popped the question.
