Mary + Shane | Ain’t no Wedding like a Detroit Wedding

I love this couple! When I first met Mary and Shane, I had felt like I had known them forever. As Mary told me her wedding vision and asked if I wanted to come to Chicago for their engagement session, I couldn’t say yes fast enough.

Their wedding day was amazing! I met Mary in her room and it was gold as far as the eye could see! All gold errythang, which speaks directly to my soul! Mary’s bridesmaids rented their gold sequin gowns from Rent The Runway, which is such a cool idea and accessorize with all things gold. Mary had even gotten golden dog collars for their pups who we would be meeting up with.

Their day was nothing short of perfection – though it didn’t hurt that one of Mary’s bridesmaids was one of Metro Detroit’s own event planners. We took photos all over the city and headed to one of Detroit’s oldest churches for their ceremony.

Their reception was at Detroit’s Waterview Lofts which is a stunning and chic venue over looking the Detroit River. I loved how their reception had such a cool cocktail hour vibe, but once the sun went down it turned into one of the coolest parties in the D that night.

Their Wedding in 3 words: Wonderful, Fun, DanceParty

Mary’s favorite memory of the day:

Everything! Getting ready with my girls, taking all the photos, seeing our family and friends at the church, taking a few photos with our babies (our dogs Ari and Agnes!)! I also really loved having a few moments of seeing the venue with just Shane. It was nice to take it all in together! Oh and walking down the aisle as official husband and wife, what an amazing moment! :)

Shane’s favorite memory of the day:

Just being in a blur of pure bliss during the entire day. Everything was perfect from the early morning until the night finished up. I loved how everyone was in great spirits throughout the day and just seemed to be having a great time! I especially loved the time spent with the bridal party before the ceremony started. I also loved being with Mary on the church alter after saying our vows, it was so great to be introduced officially as Mr. and Mrs., and I’m so glad it was done in the church. It it was so beautiful and absolutely perfect!!

Wedding planning advice for newly engaged couples:

There will be arguments, just keep pushing forward because it’s all worth it in the end!
