There are so many ways to have a more intimate wedding day. A lot of people don’t care for the pomp and circumstance of a big wedding day and opting for something much smaller, just makes sense. Through this article, I’m going to share a few different Metro Detroit elopement ideas.
Church ceremony + intimate dinner party
Danielle + David are the perfect example of an intimate wedding where religion was incorporated. They had their church ceremony and ended the day in one of San Morello private rooms at Shinola Hotel. They had a beautiful cocktail hour and dinner and even had their first dance together among their most favorite people. There are TONS of Detroit restaurants that have spaces and days you can rent them out. What’s cool about this, is you can have both your ceremony and reception there and keep it even more simple. Plus you’ll have a really great spot to go celebrate your anniversary for years to come! Here are some of my favorite Detroit restaurants that host weddings:
Go to the courthouse!
It can be just the two of you, or a few of your favorite people. You can still walk down the aisle and exchange vows. Plus, you can bring a photographer along and have a cool and relaxed photo shoot after. Bonus: Make a reservation at a special restaurant or spend the night at one of the city’s cool boutique hotels to make the day extra special
Go to your favorite place!
Do you love the forest? Architecture? The water?
Pick a date, have your friend get ordained and go do the dang thing
Also, don’t forget to bring me or a trusted photographer. Just because you don’t want to make a huge fuss, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t document it. Some day you’ll both be old and wrinkly (still total babes, but just older) and your grandkids are going to want to see your wedding photos. Please don’t show they one blurry cellphone selfie covered in filters because that’s what was trending at the time. Go, make a day of it and make a true, core memory. Remember it’s not just a contract signing, it’s you promising yourself to your favorite person forever. The beauty is you get to do it your way.
