From the minute I met Benita + Eric, I loved them.  I LOVED that Benita loved color as much as I do and fell in love with her yellow skirt with hot pick accents.  Just after first meeting them, I was kinda like, “Wow, they might be the coolest people I have ever met”,  But also the sweetest which almost never happens!

The day of their colorful Detroit engagement story, I met them at their home to attempt a few photos with their cats.  I always love when my couples bring personal parts of their lives into their sessions and I love cats; my Hubs is allergic so I was totally on board to try and make it happen.  The cats however, were not on board.  They aren’t huge fans of strangers, but they sure are beautiful.  After that, we headed to some of Benita and Eric’s favorite spots around Downtown Detroit.  We even found a piece of art in that was a clock and the hands pointed to their wedding date (great find, B!).  Here’s a little more about this fab couple:

Eric proposed at The Detroit Zoo in front of the old Penguinarium right before the zoo was closing so there wasn’t anyone near us and I don’t think anyone even saw us. He asked me if he should get down on one knee. I said no. There wasn’t any grand gesture or speech and that’s exactly how I wanted it to be. Neither of us are into doing things the expected way.
