Anjilla + Mark’s Fox Hills summer house wedding was one I had been waiting for for quite a while. Their my great friends and neighbors and they are so much fun! I felt like Anjilla’s big sister showing up that morning and definitely shed some tears and a few laughs – especially with Stanley walking down the aisle with Mark! It was the perfect fall day in Northville leading into an even more perfect evening at Fox Hills. Their summer house is so dreaming and with the mix of drapery and ivy, their reception was so stunning. We all danced the night away to the jams of 56 Daze – ahhhh so good! And by we I mean me too! Since these two are my neighbors, my little and guy got to come too. I wish we could do it all over again, but Mark and Anj thank you so much for trusting me with your day. It was so incredibly perfect.

Ok so PSA time: pro to this church – the church let their dog Stanley walk down the aisle and stay on the alter the entire time! So rad! However, they only allowed us to photograph from the doorways of the church. I wanted to cry. I love this family so hard and wanted to get the emotional reactions of the mothers and family and I just couldn’t being in the doorway. I still obviously got amazing shot, but unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time that a church or venue had not reviewed their photo policies with the couple before hand. A lot of times we as photographers get stuck being the bearer of bad news (of their photo policy) and sometimes it’s too late for us to tell the couple. Please when booking your ceremony venue, ask them their photo policy. Where do they allow their photographers to shoot from? Some don’t have any restrictions, some don’t allow photographers to move at all once the ceremony begins, some only allow you to photograph from the doorways such as this one and I’ve even heard of some that do not allow photographers to enter the sanctuary at all – meaning no ceremony photos. Just be sure to ask when booking your ceremony venue, so you aren’t surprised.

Anjilla’s favorite memory of the day:

This is an impossible question as there were so many that were my favorite, I wish I could repeat the entire day over and over! Our first look was wonderful because it gave us a little quiet time together just us and our furbaby, Stanley. My brother surprising us with the song he wrote for us on our wedding and singing it at our reception, spending time with all of our friends and family who traveled from near and far, and last but not least dancing the night away to our band. and seeing everyone having so much fun on the dance floor.

Mark’s favorite memory of the day:

It’s very hard to pick one thing, so many things stuck out and were great… but if I had to choose one thing I would choose the time before dinner when all of the guests had been seated. The speeches from the parents and best man/MOH were wonderful. Knowing how all of those people have been involved in our lives and hearing what they had to say about us and the day was very special. My brother absolutely slayed me in good fashion and it was great. It was perfect payback for my speech at his wedding. To top off that section, Anjilla’s brother debuted a song for us which was such a wonderful surprise. It was a nice quiet moment to really reflect on the meaning of the day.

Wedding planning advice for newly engaged couples:

Don’t over think things and trust your vendors. They are professionals for a reason:) Have a clear vision and budget for your wedding and stick to that- it will help you in all of your decision making. Remember that your wedding is about the both of you, try to incorporate personal touches that are meaningful to you as a couple.
