This is the tale of how good the Tigers rain radar is. Just kidding, it’s about Katie and Alex’s wedding day, but the radar played a big role. I met Katie in her gorgeous suite at the westin book Cadillac where everything was beautiful and fun, but there was definitely an elephant in the room: the rain. With an outdoor ceremony at Comerica park so they can overlook the city, there wasn’t really room for rain in the equation.
The Comerica park staff worked feveriously to vacuum up the rain (I had no idea that was a thing!) and their staff mopped up every chair. And just like that, the sun came out. I think that up to that point, the only person who really believed the rain would stop was Alex, and he was right! Their ceremony was beautiful. Katie surprised her groom by hiring a bag piper to walk down the aisle before her. Once I heard those bagpipes, I couldn’t help but tear up – it was such a beautiful moment!
And oh my gosh you guys, the details! I literally gasped when I took a peek at their reception! What I love about The Eastern is its literally a blank canvas for every couple to make as their own and seeing this vision come to life was amazing. Blush and gold accents, gold rimmed goblets and flowers from one of my favorite floral designers filled the room. The rest of the night was perfection. After some delicious food, everyone danced the night away with one of my favorite DJs, pumping out the jams!
Congratulations guys – it was so amazing spending your day with you and getting to know you over the past year. Thank you for treating me like family and for trusting my crazy ideas. Xo, e
