I feel like I met Jill + Nick a million years ago. Â Photographer was one of the first things they booked, because it was super important to them (sounds like a match made in heaven, huh?!), so we had had their engagement session scheduled for quite a while. Â We met up on a super hot Thursday evening. Â The light was soooo stinkin gorgeous and golden! Â Even though it was a Thursday, when I think of their session, all I hear is Lionel Richie’s “Easy Like Sunday Morning” in my head! Â These two are so chill and so in love, their session totally had that vibe that Lionel was talking about – just eeeeeasy. Â Like they were made for each other. Â Â I don’t know if that even makes sense, haha! Â But one thing I do know is I can’t wait for next June when I get to photograph them again :)
Jill, Preschool Teacher
Nick, Web Developer
Met:Â We met in college at Central Michigan University in 2013
Their Story: Â This is a story of how Jill and Nick met twice. The first time they met, Jill was singing at an open mic night at a local coffee shop in Mount Pleasant called Kaya. Nick happened to be playing that night too. After Jill finished her performance, Nick approached her and told her she did a great job. Jill thought Nick was handsome, but never saw him again. She thought about him often, hoping to see him again. 5 months later, Jill was riding home from work to her new apartment on her bicycle. She rode up to a man playing guitar on the ledge by her apartment. Jill, feeling confident, approached the man and said, “Oh, you play guitar too?” The man turned around, and it was the same man Jill had met 5 months before. From there, they knew they had a connection and fell in love soon after.
Their Engagement Story:Â On Halloween morning, Jill woke up talking about wedding things like how many guests to invite and what everyone would wear. It was upon hearing her talk that, Nick knew he had to propose that day. So, Nick asked Jill to go on a walk to get coffee at their favorite coffee shop in Plymouth where Nick lives. They started taking a brisk walk hand-in-hand towards downtown Plymouth. Soon after buying coffee and sipping it on their stroll towards the fountain, they walked past a bridal shop where Jill started talking about wedding dresses. Jill stopped herself and said, “I’m sorry I keep talking about weddings. You propose when you’re ready.” Little did she know, Nick had the ring in his pocket the whole time. The two stopped at the fountain where Nick said, “Let’s make a wish!” Jill said, “Maybe later, there’s a farmer’s market going on!” Then Nick insisted on making a wish, so Jill held out her hand. Nick shakily placed a penny and the ring in her gloved hand and got down on one knee. Jill immediately started to cry of joy saying, “Oh honey!” and “Yes!” He asked her to marry him and spend the rest of their lives together.
