I LOVE these two!  Stephanie + DA both share my same love of Detroit (they even got engaged there!) and Stephanie shares my same love of pop culture and pretty things.  As a former employee of one of the best wedding + floral stylists in the game, Jen House Design, I knew her wedding vision was going to be a-mazing!
Stephanie & DA are totally why I love my job. Â I met them for a drink before we started shooting and it seriously felt like I’ve known them forever. Â We shared a lot of laughs at their fun engagement session at Detroit’s Eastern Market & Belle Isle. Â And as a photographer, it was a dream because they trusted me. Â They trusted me when I told them to do silly things or stand in direct sunlight or stand in some stinky smoke. Â But most importantly, their love could be felt from a mile away. Â I sooooo cannot wait for your gorgeous September wedding guys! Â Thanks for a super fun session! Â xo, e
Met: Â D and I have known each other since high school, but didn’t start officially hanging out until Summer of 2012
Their Story: Â We always have had mutual friends and would see each other at parties or around college campuses on the weekend, but one random week night, I randomly text him and asked if he would want to go downtown with me. I knew he was in at home in law school and I had the whole week off of work. Really, I was just bored and wanted have a night out and drink-haha. We went out that night and had way too much to drink and have pretty much been with each other ever since :)
Their Engagement: Â D knows how much I love Winter and Christmas, so he had asked me if I wanted to go ice-skating downtown at Campus Martius the day after they light the Christmas Tree on a Saturday. When the Saturday rolled around, it started snowing like CRAZY and it was our first big snow storm of the year. I thought for sure we would end up staying home, but he said he still wanted to go anyway. I had never been ice-skating, so I was super excited. After we went around the rink a couple times, he pulled me in the middle of the ice rink and got down on one knee and proposed. It literally felt magical. Detroit, Christmas Tree, snowstorm and a ring.
Whenever I hear Lovely Day by Bill Withers I think of D. I remember hearing that song all the time on vinyl whenever I would see him at his friends house on the weekends
“Back That Ass Up”-Juvenile….kidding!! He said he doesn’t have a song that reminds him of me lol (PS: that is actually one of my jamzzzz)
